Headlights automatically turn on during rain or twilight, helping to improve the visibility of your vehicle

The headlights automatically turn on when daylight decreases, such as during twilight hours. This early detection function is called, “Considerate Lighting”. The headlights also automatically turn on when the windshield wipers are used. These functions increase the ability for other drivers and pedestrians to notice your vehicle during low light and rainy/snowy conditions, when accidents are prone to occur.

Technology Functionality

Considerate Lighting twilight detection function

The system automatically identifies low light surroundings, such as during twilight hours, and turns on the headlights. The system is able to distinguish shadowed areas to avoid unnecessary headlight activation.

Technology Configuration

Considerate Lighting twilight detection function

An illumination sensor positioned near the windshield detects the brightness of the surroundings. It is designed to make distinctions based on differences in the average illumination values and temporary illumination value such as when driving inside a tunnel, passing through shade or shadowed areas or under a raised intersection in order to eliminate the unnecessary repeated activation of headlights.

Windshield wiper function

The headlights will automatically turn on if the windshield wipers are continually used after a set period of time. The headlights will automatically turn off when the windshield wipers are not in use for a set period of time.
