Our focus areas
Over the next ten years, Nissan will deliver exciting, electrified vehicles and technological innovations while expanding its operations globally. At the heart of Nissan Ambition 2030 is the goal to achieve carbon neutrality across the company's operations and the life cycle of its products by 2050. To reach this goal, Nissan is focusing on several key areas, including:
- Increase electrification sales mix
- Advanced autonomous vehicle technologies
- Evolved all-solid-state batteries (ASSB)
- Create new mobility services for more efficient and sustainable mobility
- EV36Zero
- Enhance infrastructure and support a circular economy in energy management
- V2X
As a pioneer in electric vehicles (EVs), Nissan has invested in building charging infrastructure and energy management.
By placing electrification at the core of the company's long-term strategy, Nissan Ambition 2030, the company aims to accelerate the electrification of its vehicle lineup and rate of technology innovation with investments of 2 trillion yen over the next five years.
Based on customer demands for a diverse range of exciting vehicles, Nissan will introduce 27 new electrified models, including 19 new EVs by fiscal year 2030 aiming for an electrification mix of 55% globally across the Nissan and INFINITI brands.
Increasing accessibility and innovation in mobility
The world of mobility is changing rapidly, and Nissan is at the forefront of this revolution. Our mission is to make mobility more accessible and innovative for everyone, regardless of their background or location.
We believe that the key to increasing accessibility and innovation in mobility lies in electric vehicles (EVs). EVs are cleaner, quieter, and more efficient than traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, and they offer a more sustainable and equitable future.
We're also partnering with governments, energy providers, and other stakeholders to build a comprehensive EV charging network and support policies that promote sustainable mobility.
1. Advanced autonomous vehicle technologies
Innovation is also a key driver of our approach to mobility. We're investing in new technologies, such as autonomous driving and connected car systems, to create safer, more efficient, and more personalized mobility solutions.
Expand ProPILOT technology to over 2.5 million Nissan and INFINITI vehicles
Incorporate next-generation LIDAR systems on virtually every new model
2. Evolved all-solid-state batteries (ASSB)
The All-Solid-State Battery (ASSB) is the future of electric vehicles (EVs). This revolutionary technology promises to make EVs safer, more efficient, and more affordable than ever before.
Nissan aims to launch an electric vehicle (EV) with all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) by fiscal year 2028 that have been developed in-house . With the introduction of ASSBs, Nissan will be able to expand its EV offerings across segments and offer more dynamic performance.
ASSBs represent a breakthrough in the world of EVs, and Nissan is committed to making this technology a reality for drivers around the world. By investing in ASSB research and development, we're helping to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
With ASSB, EV design becomes more flexible
Make EVs more efficient and accessible
Achieve cost uniformity between EVs and gasoline vehicles
3. Introduce new mobility services for more efficient and sustainable mobility
Global ecosystem for mobility and beyond
The future of mobility is about more than just cars. It's about creating a global ecosystem that supports sustainable and equitable transportation solutions for everyone, everywhere.
At Nissan, we're committed to building this ecosystem by partnering with governments, energy providers, and other stakeholders around the world. Our goal is to create a comprehensive network of EV charging stations, smart grid systems, and renewable energy sources that support a more sustainable and efficient transportation system.
Nissan will expand its unique EV Hub concept, EV36Zero, from the U.K. to core markets including Japan, China and the U.S. EV36Zero is a fully integrated manufacturing and service ecosystem connecting mobility and energy management with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality.
Ensuring vehicle batteries remain sustainable will also continue to be a priority for Nissan based on its decade of repurposing and recycling expertise with 4R Energy in Japan. We intend to expand our facilities with new locations in Europe.
Our infrastructure will support a circular economy in energy management, and we aim to fully commercialize our vehicle-to-everything and home-battery systems in the mid-2020s.
