Born in Kanagawa, Japan, where she continues to live, Nobuko Tsuchiya completed a postgraduate study in fine arts at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2001. She creates sculptural works that combine familiar objects with discarded materials the artist has collected, which bring to mind alternative civilizations that transcend time and space or strange worlds reminiscent of science fiction.
