Nissan presented its advanced safety and environmental technologies, which are scheduled to be introduced in their products in the next 2 to 3 years. Demonstrations of the Safety Shield technologies included the All-Around Collision Free Prototype, Around View Monitor with Parking Guide and GPS Mobile ITS for Pedestrian Safety. Attendees experienced various environmental technologies, including test drives of the all-electric and original hybrid electric prototype vehicles, which are both powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries. The event also showcased the world-first ECO pedal, which is designed to assist drivers improve their fuel efficiency.

Nissan hosted a session on our quality initiatives in order to increase a deeper understanding of one of the NISSAN GT 2012 commitments, “Quality leadership”. Mr. Kato, SVP in charge of TCSX (Total Customer Satisfaction Function), presented on this topic. In addition, we provided a tour of the Field Quality Center (FQC), which focuses on our vehicle quality enhancement processes.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., NEC Corporation, and its subsidiary NEC TOKIN Corporation, announced that its joint-venture company, Automotive Energy Supply Corporation (AESC), has commenced operations for the development and mass production of advanced lithium-ion batteries,which will be used in a wide range of automotive applications. At the briefing, Mr. Otsuka, President of AESC, spoken on the strength, safety,cost, and reliability of its products.

Mr. Imazu, EVP of Manufacturing, presented the "Global Strategies of Nissan Production Way" and reported the achievements of the "Oppama challenge",which is one of the efforts to improve the competitive strength for costs. Mr. Honda,General Manager of the Oppama Plant, provided the updates on the "Oppama challenge" along with a factory tour.
