The third generation Datsun Bluebird 510 was rolled out in August 1967. It started with sedans of 2 doors / 4 doors and station wagons / vans of 5 doors. The engine variation was 1.3-liter L13 of inline 4-cylinder OHC, and 1.6-liter L16 to be mounted on 1600SSS (Super Sport Sedan). It became very popular for the sharp body lines, excellent basic performance and usability. The global sales reached more than 1.55 million in 5 years.
The 2-door coupe series was added in November 1968 in Japanese market. The sedan "1600SSS" won in both the overall and the team categories at the 18th East-African Safari Rally in 1970.
