Datsun 12 Phaeton(1933: 12)

Origin of the “DATSUN” name comes from “DAT Car” that Kwaishinsha Motor Car Works first produced in 1914.
“DAT” are the initials of three investors in Kwaishinsha and “SON” stands for a son of DAT. But it was changed to “DATSUN” because the word SON evoked a negative image of “loss” in Japanese.
DATSUN first appeared in DATSUN 10 in 1932. Ever since then it has been used for NISSAN compact cars and became one of the most popular brand names in overseas countries as well as in Japan.
This DATSUN 12 Phaeton is the oldest model of NISSAN that had been already manufactured in December 1933 when NISSAN MOTOR CO. was established, so is the oldest in the Heritage Collection.
“Phaeton” stands for a convertible four-seater car with a cloth top.
