Support Activities in Collaboration with Yokohama F. Marinos

Yokohama F. Marinos, a professional soccer club and official partner of Nissan, set up donation boxes at the team’s official store and sold merchandise, such as tee-shirts and towels, to raise funds for those impacted by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

In addition, street-corner fundraisers were conducted by athletes, along with club staff and officials. These fundraisers were held mainly in Yokohama City, but also at various other locations in Kanagawa Prefecture. Many fans volunteered to assist the main club support staff in the various fundraising activities.

Thanks to the support and cooperation of so many people, about 22 million yen was raised for reconstruction assistance, and distributed to disaster areas via the J-League executive office and Japanese Red Cross Society.

Nissan also cooperated with Yokohama F. Marinos to invite 120 children to Yokohama from Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, to attend soccer camps and watch the pros play. This was an especially welcome holiday tour for soccer-playing boys and girls from Iwaki, whose soccer practice and all other outdoor activities had been restricted after the earthquake and nuclear power plant failure.
